Here is the first poem from A GREAT POET TO BE Sagnik Patra. His mother was (as usual) screaming at the top of her voice while I was (being unnerved - as usual) watching a movie on my laptop. In the end the revelation was much more than pleasing - 'Sagnik has wrote a poem' - Sutanu said and she handed me over a colorful piece of paper. I did not know how to express my feelings - another Bengali poet is born - but he writes in English! One thing I can tell you - the following might not be anything near to a perfect poem but he wrote from his heart. Very recently he went to Big Bazaar (a big shopping complex) with his mother and uncle. They bought many things for the family and mere 2 packets of Hajmola for him! For your information - this happens whenever his mother goes to Big Bazaar for groceries for the month. "Poet - Sagnik Patra" - it was written at the bottom of the paper.

Big Bazaar

Whenever we go to any bazaar,
We have to buy something.
We buy small things, we buy big things,
Certainly we by something,
Sometimes lots of things.

But when we go to Big Bazaar,
We buy less things.
Our elders buy many things,
But we do not by anything.
Sometimes we buy,
And sometimes not.

Sometimes we buy big things,
Sometimes not,
But we never forget to buy a thing,
This is the difference.
